In 2007, the Rotary Club of Colwood hosted Nadia Apa from Junin de los Andes, Argentina.

Nadia completed ten months as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program in June 2007. During this time, she attended a local senior secondary school as well as participating, with other international students, in activities sponsored by District 5020.

Nadia arrived in Canada in August 2006. Her host family for the entire year has been Rotarian Bob Scott and his wife, Shirley.

Nadia's spent a very active year in Canada. Besides her activities with other Rotary International Youth Exchange students, she has been part of a vibrant Exchange Student Program at her high school.

Being in a Canadian environment and speaking English did not deter this young woman from excelling in school. Nadia achieved consistently high marks throughout the year.

Upon her return to Argentina, Nadia completed her final year of high school and graduated in December 2007. (Remember, the seasons are 'inverted' in the southern hemisphere. Summer begins in December.)

Her host family, Bob and Shirley spent December in Patagonia with Nadia, her family, and friends.

Nadia began medical studies in Cordova, Argentina in February 2008.

We will miss her greatly, but wish her great success in her future studies.
